Aging often brings challenges, but it can also be a time for transformation. Meet Roshini Devi Sangwan, a 68-year-old homemaker from New Delhi, who has proven that it’s never too late to rediscover strength and vitality. Once burdened by arthritis and back pain, she is now an inspiration to seniors across India. Her journey from pain to power is a heartfelt reminder that age is just a number when you have determination.

A New Beginning: From Pain to Power
For many years, Roshini led a quiet, ordinary life as a homemaker. But things changed when arthritis and a fall left her with severe back pain and limited mobility. Despite daily physiotherapy, her discomfort lingered, and she began to fear losing her independence.

Everything changed in June when her son, Ajay, a certified gym trainer, stepped in. He believed that movement was the key to her recovery. Instead of taking her to physiotherapy sessions, he brought her to a gym.

“At first, I refused,” Roshini recalls. “I thought, what would people say if an old woman started going to the gym? Twice, I stood outside and didn’t go in.” But Ajay didn’t give up. He encouraged her to take the first step, and with his support, she walked into the gym.

That small step turned into a life-changing journey.

Discovering Her Inner Strength

Today, Roshini trains five days a week with a routine that includes planks, battle ropes, and deadlifts. The results have been extraordinary.

“When I started, I didn’t know if it would work,” Ajay shares. “But her flexibility, strength, and energy have improved beyond my expectations.”

Roshini, who once struggled with daily tasks, now deadlifts 65 kilograms her own body weight with ease. She no longer feels the aches of arthritis and has gained a new sense of purpose. Her next goal? To lift 100 kilograms and break the Indian weightlifting record for senior women.

“My dream is to win a gold medal and make India proud,” she says, her eyes shining with determination.

An Inspiration for All Seniors
Roshini’s story is not just about lifting weights; it’s about lifting spirits and inspiring others. She encourages seniors to take charge of their health, starting with small steps.

“Go to the park, or exercise at home if you can’t go outside,” she advises. “Don’t depend on your children for everything. Take care of your health now so you can enjoy life later.”

Her journey is a wake-up call for many. A government study in 2017 revealed that 60% of Indians over 45 do not engage in physical activity. Roshini hopes to change that mindset by showing what’s possible with commitment and support.

Ajay now shares her progress on Instagram and plans to launch a YouTube channel to motivate others. Together, they are spreading the message that it’s never too late to start anew.
