At Sukoon Adda, every week brings new moments of joy, connection, and learning. This past week was no exception—filled with melodies, riddles, heartwarming memories, and engaging book club debates. Here’s a look back at the wonderful conversations and experiences that made this week at Sukoon truly special!

Music, Memories, and Melodies: A Nostalgic Evening at Sukoon Unlimited

Music has a magical way of connecting generations, evoking emotions, and preserving memories. At Sukoon Unlimited, our recent gathering was a delightful mix of nostalgia, storytelling, and soulful melodies.

The discussion began with a journey through the evolution of music—from the charm of 78 rpm records to the era of cassettes, CDs, and today’s digital playlists. Members fondly recalled how music was an essential part of their daily lives, from listening to the radio while studying to creating mixtapes for special occasions.

As conversations flowed, spontaneous singing filled the air, with members debating the origins of beloved songs and playfully struggling to recall lyrics. The room was filled with laughter, joy, and a shared appreciation for the melodies that have stood the test of time. Music, after all, isn’t just entertainment—it’s a bridge to the past and a source of comfort in the present.

Cybersecurity: Protecting Yourself Online

In a recent Sukoon session, finance professional Sandeep guided members through cybersecurity essentials, sharing his own experience with phishing scams. He emphasized the importance of strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and safe browsing practices—advising users to look for ‘https’ and a padlock icon on websites.

Members learned about common cyber threats, including phishing emails, tech support scams, and online fraud. Real-life experiences highlighted the need to verify suspicious calls and avoid sharing personal information. Sandeep also introduced members to lesser-known risks, such as ‘juice jacking,’ where public charging ports can be used to steal data, and the dangers of using public Wi-Fi for financial transactions.

To enhance data security, Sandeep suggested using digital lockers for sensitive documents and setting transaction limits to prevent unauthorized access. This session reinforced the importance of staying vigilant in an increasingly digital world.

The Power of Forgiveness and Emotional Well-being

Amit Yagi led a thought-provoking session on emotional hygiene, forgiveness, and yogic rhythmic breathing. He shared how holding onto negativity impacts well-being and guided participants through simple techniques to practice forgiveness—not for others, but for themselves.

Amit introduced the 6-3-6-3 breathing technique, known to reduce stress, improve immunity, and promote relaxation. Through real-life stories, he illustrated the transformative power of forgiveness and its role in breaking karmic cycles.

The session ended with an invitation for participants to reflect on cherished memories by bringing a meaningful photograph to the next discussion. A journey of healing and self-discovery continues!

Sukoon Community and Riddle Mania

Our recent Sukoon Community meeting was filled with energy, laughter, and a battle of wits as members engaged in Riddle Mania! Led by Sushma, the session brought together Anita, Ajitha, Kavita, Kalyani, Sangeeta, and others for a fun-filled mental workout.

From classic brain teasers to tricky wordplay, riddles sparked curiosity, creative guesses, and plenty of lighthearted debate. A particularly funny moment came when Gitanjali guessed "Florida Keys" for a keyboard-related riddle, leading Sushma to joke about always needing a reason to travel!

As the meeting wrapped up, members applauded Sushma’s efforts in making learning fun. With a promise to return to more riddles in the future, everyone left with a smile—and a few tricky puzzles to share with their families.

Nostalgic Photos and Heartwarming Memories

Anita recently shared a nostalgic black-and-white school photo from Jaipur, bringing back fond memories of friendships, love, and simpler times. The Sukoon Community meeting that followed was filled with even more heartwarming moments as members shared personal stories of travel, achievements, and cherished relationships.

From Anita’s trip to Andaman to Gitanjali’s visit to the Cellular Jail in Port Blair, stories of adventure and history unfolded. Sukoon shared fascinating insights into his work on the Metro rail project, while Gurunath reminisced about his time serving in the maritime borders.

Ajitha’s 35-year-old photo, memories of a beloved pet named Bingo, and a discussion on preserving memories made this gathering truly special. A particularly touching moment came when Sangeeta suggested a session on pets, inspired by her memories of her beloved dog, Heidi.

A Book Club Full of Surprises!

Our latest book club meet was a whirlwind of stories, laughter, and unexpected twists. Benu and Anuradha kicked things off with Revolting Rhymes, enjoying its sassy take on fairy tales. The group also explored The Hidden Hindu, a fascinating blend of mythology and mystery.

The discussion extended beyond books, touching on memory improvement techniques, the joys of e-readers versus paperbacks, and ways to encourage younger generations to read. Ideas like curated reading lists and storytelling formats like Shruti Natak were met with enthusiasm.

Excitement grew over They Lived Ever After, a fresh retelling of fairy tales, with the possibility of performing a play based on one of the discussed stories. With books, laughter, and endless curiosity, our book club isn’t just about reading—it’s about living the stories we love.

Unlocking the Digital World: Seniors Embrace Technology with Sukoon

Technology can feel overwhelming, but with the right guidance, it becomes a tool of empowerment. Sukoon Unlimited recently hosted an engaging session to help seniors understand the basics of smartphones, Wi-Fi, and mobile data, led by Mahima Balotia, founder of Social Pathshala.

The discussion covered the differences between Wi-Fi and mobile data, how to save on costs, and why Wi-Fi is better for streaming. Members also learned about mobile hotspots and the importance of securing their devices. Security was a key highlight, with Mahima stressing the importance of saving the IMEI number, which helps track lost or stolen phones.

The most intriguing part of the session was the discussion on GPS. Seniors were curious about Google Maps and live location sharing, and Mahima explained how GPS aids navigation and safety. The interactive session made learning technology both enjoyable and practical.

With such enthusiasm, Sukoon Unlimited continues to create spaces where seniors can learn, explore, and stay connected in an ever-evolving digital world.

Each week at Sukoon Unlimited is a testament to the power of community, learning, and joyful connections. Whether through music, discussions, riddles, books, or technology, we continue to grow together, embracing every moment with warmth and enthusiasm.
