From Engineer to Mentor: Prabhakar Nema's Inspiring Journey of Service

In the quiet city of Nagpur, where the sun shines bright and the air is filled with warmth, lives Mr. Prabhakar Nema, a man whose life story is nothing short of inspiring. At first glance, he is like any other senior citizen graceful, wise, and full of stories. But as you sit with him and listen, you quickly realize that his life has been a journey of determination, hard work, and selfless service.

Born in a town in Madhya Pradesh, Mr. Nema’s childhood was filled with the simple joys of family life. His fondest memories are of Diwali celebrations, when his father, a dedicated schoolteacher, would gather the entire family, buy sweets and firecrackers, and fill their home with laughter and light. These moments, spent with his siblings and parents, became the foundation of his belief in the power of family, traditions, and love.

The Diwali Spark: A Childhood of Warmth and Light
Despite financial constraints young Prabhakar was determined to build a bright future. His father, though not a man of great wealth, believed in the power of education and instilled that belief in his son. Mr. Nema took this to heart. He pursued his studies with relentless focus, securing government scholarships at every stage from his BE in Civil Engineering and ME in Civil Engineering (with specialization in Public Health Engineering) to his postgraduate studies in the Netherlands. He eventually earned a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Roorkee University, one of India’s most prestigious institutions.

Through all these achievements, his father’s words stayed with him: “Build your strength, create a good name, and always give back to society.” It was advice that would shape the rest of his life.

A Career Dedicated to Public Service and Innovation
Mr. Nema’s career took him to great heights. As a scientist and environmental engineer, he worked on water and waste water management, air pollution control, and environmental impact assessment. In Gujarat, he took charge as a Head of a Zonal Center at Ahmedabad , of the National Environmental Engineering Research Institute(NEERI) head quartered at Nagpur at just 35 years age, managing medium & large-scale projects and working closely with industries to ensure sustainable practices.

But his job wasn’t easy. With limited staff and high expectations, he often had to work alone, traveling across the state, visiting industrial sites, and designing solutions to environmental challenges. His dedication, problem-solving skills, and integrity earned him a reputation as a respected professional. His years of hard work left a lasting impact on environmental issues and sustainable development initiatives in the state.
